About Luna de Miel

Myrthe grew up in a family of classical musicians, where she started learning to play the violin at the age of 4. After playing classical music for 10 years, she came across a gypsy band with a violinist that captivated her. Since then, she has been exploring various styles on her violin. Myrthe has played with artists such as Duncan Laurence and Kovacs, as well as the top session musicians from acts like Kyteman & Di-rect in Jam de la crème.

Abel grew up in Cuba, playing classical music since his youth, and later came to the Netherlands to study jazz music. Abel is equally at home in European and American jazz as he is in his Cuban roots. One of his most successful collaborations is with dance director Carlos Acosta (Birmingham Royal Ballet), for whom Abel frequently composes music.

ENCOUNTER

Myrthe and Abel met by chance on the stage at the Nar in Utrecht, and they immediately clicked. Since then, they have been collaborating in various bands and projects. Creativity radiates from this duo; Myrthe is currently writing for a TV series and working on her own album. Together with Abel, they extensively use improvisational play and combine music with poetry. This duo can be described as elegant, versatile, and classy—masters of many trades, which makes them truly exceptional.

DANCE IN MUSIC

Dance is a shared passion of Abel and Myrthe, and it plays a central role in the music of Luna de Miel. Music should move, as even classical music was originally meant for dancing. This duo gives a unique twist to pop music. Myrthe enjoys singing in different languages, and they often incorporate Latin and Cuban influences into their music.
